Meet Rod Krupicka

Growing up in Nebraska hunting, tinkering, and building stuff fascinated me.  I just could not get enough of the outdoors, but, Nebraska was too tame.   In 1988 I decided to move to Montana and start guiding.  I worked 2 seasons for Russ Willis guiding elk, bear, deer and mountain lion hunts.

Montana was great, but it was too tame, I wanted more. I made the big move – Alaska!  Every hunter’s dream…brown bear, sheep, moose…you name it!  I started packing moose, sheep and bears until earning my assistant guide’s license in 1990 and my registered guide’s license in 2002.

I have guided for a number of outfitters all over Alaska from the north in the Brooks Range, south to the Alaska Range, even further south to Prince William Sound and west by the North Gulf Coast and Cold Bay on the Alaska Peninsula.  Hunts have included brown/grizzly bear, Dall sheep, moose, caribou, and black bear.  Of those, the brown/grizzly bear and Dall sheep hunts are my favorite, having taken 41 bear and at least 20 sheep.

I have built a log cabin, my Alaska home, near the Chulitna River in the Talkeetna Mountains.

In 2000 I started flying an ultralight, 2002 I got my private pilot’s license.  I have owned a Stinson, a Taylorcraft and after many hours spent flying the bush for my own trips and guiding. I finally decided on the ultimate Alaska Bush plane, the PA-18 Super Cub.

Guiding and hunting are my passion. Joining the Xtreme Xpeditions Team is the next step in making my “Job” a career in the outdoors.

In the off season I usually work construction operating heavy equipment.  My goal is to make guiding my permanent “full-time” job. My passion for hunting is much greater than for running a grader.
